Telescopico, 1991

Galvanized sheet, aluminium and steel
58 × 20 × 350/850 cm
The variable dimension
Unlike the beams, which have fixed dimensions designed for the exhibition space, the 'telescopics', as mechanical devices, are composed of elements that slide into each other: a system of variable dimensions.
The result is a device that adapts from time to time to the space that contains it, the same work therefore with its versatility can be installed in different spaces simply by adjusting its length.
Vittoria Coen, Art and Frame, 1990; Palazzo Moroni, Bergamo (cat.)
The measurement of space
In addition to the relationship between the work and the observer, there is always - even if unconsciously - a relationship between the object and the environment in which it is placed. With its 'variable third dimension',Telescopico makes space between pedestals and celebratory conventions by breaking the orthogonal symmetry of places as if cutting diagonally through a metaphorical canvas.
Seeking a relationship with the most extreme points, Telescopico exploits its extensive potential to measure the fields of existence of Art.
